Is personal hygiene important for a healthcare professional?

I believe that anyone who is working with the public, especially the health care field should have high personal hygiene. If someone is not "clean" and they are working with the public, they could be putting other people at risk. I think it is important for a company to set standards of dress and hygiene when they hire a new employee. I work at a courthouse and I have a certain "image" I am supposed to uphold to, and I think this is not only for my benefit, but also the public's. Therefore, I think it is unethical for someone who is working in the health care field to not have good hygiene. Is it wrong for an employer to send someone home for not following their guidelines for personal care? I think not. If someone is working in the health care field, they certainly should act in a way that will not harm others, and therefore should have good hygiene.
