When will the economy pick up?

Given the current state of the economy, I feel that people are faced with many more ethical decisions than once was the case. When there are so limited resources, people resort to selfishness and recklessness. I believe that many people who would not normally steal or become violent are doing so because of the economy. There are no jobs, people are being forced into retirement, and people are having a more difficult time than ever before. When a mother has children to feed, it is hard for her not to resort to our basic instinct of survival, and survival of the fittest, and do what she must to feed her children. I see many people around me changing because of the horrible state the economy is in. I also believe that many people are giving up and are giving in to things such as drugs or alcohol. I am really praying for the economy to get better because it is hard for me to see how it is effecting people around me and not being able to do anything to help them. This could relate to health care ethics because the economy could be putting pressure on employees, which may cause them to act in a way that they would not normally. Some employees may not make sound decisions, or could steal from their employer.
