Is laying people off the right decision?
I think that it is important to think about the state the economy is in and what it is forcing people to do. I work at a courthouse and they are now being "forced" to lay off 50 employees. They say they have exhausted all other options and that this is what they have to do. I really do not believe that cutting employees is the right "fix it" for this situation. Why don't they cut the salaries of the higher people that make like $100,000 a year? If they cut everyone's salary just a little they would be able to keep more employees. They are also raising the fees for filing a case significantly. So if they are raising the fees so much, why do they still need to lay people off? When it comes to laying people off it is a business decision and it is not personal, and this is what I keep thinking. I still believe they have other options. I just graduated with my degree, and there are very few jobs to get. The economy is making life difficult for many Americans, and forcing Americans to do things they would not normally do. This could relate to health care ethics because lay offs are being made everywhere, even at health care operations. Employees that work for health care companies also face the fear of being laid off and losing their job. I believe that people that are at the top of these companies should look at where they can make cuts, and try not to cut employees.
